Diane Askew ~ Caswell & Askew Studio

Hi! My name is Diane Askew and I am a wedding photographer in Sonoma, CA. I have owned and opertated Caswell & Askew Studio for over nine years now - during which time I have photographed over 300 wine country weddings.

In addition to showcasing my work on this blog, I also hope to educate couples as they organize their wedding photography coverage, often from thousands of miles away. I hope to help shed light on some often-confusing aspects of wedding photography, helping couples to make some important decisions armed with the most helpful information possible. I know what works and what doesn't. I have gained invaluable knowledge over the years, having encountered just about every possible "situation"! I truly believe that there is no substitute for experience when it comes to wedding photography. We have to be able to handle the pressure - along with the time-constraints, changes, etc. - that often accompany weddings, with the greatest of ease and confidence. There is no situation that I can't handle, which means that every wedding I photograph ends up flowing beautfully, no matter what arises.

Since I spend time behind the camera whenever possible, in addition to my work you can expect to see photographs from my birding trips, volunteer work at a local animal shelter, fine art, my son and two dogs, etc.

I have a brief break between weddings, and with a busy fall on the horizon, now (or never) is the time to feature a selection of wedding images from this summer. I will begin with a selection of images from Stacy & Gabe’s wedding. Their day began at St. Leo’s Church in Sonoma (where I have worked many times), and continued at Relais du Soleil in Glen Ellen (a venue that I have never had the pleasure of working at before). When I think back to the myriad of details that made up this day, the word that comes to mind is “perfection”. The ceremony was perfect. The antique car was perfect. Stopping along the way at several interesting spots was perfect, and arriving at one of the most charming, comfortable and welcoming venues in the wine country, was purrfect! Thank you, Stacy & Gabe, for giving us the opportunity to accompany you on this amazingly special day. We wouldn’t have wanted to miss it for anything!
