Happy New Year. What happened to the month of December, and, for that matter, the whole of 2009? It stole by like a thief in the night.
There is never a “downtime” in this business - it is as slow as it gets at this time of year. And, yet, I am very busy preparing for this year’s weddings, including meeting with clients at their venues to go through preliminary details, making some long-distance plans with all my out of state couples, marketing and meeting with prospective clients, preparing albums - and the list goes on!
I am taking a much-needed break at the end of this month to photograph nature in SW Florida. When I return, it will be with a renewed and refreshed eagerness to return to my work - work which allows me to express (and experiment with) my creativity in some of the most beautiful places in Northern California, offer guidance to many wonderful couples for their special day, and, fianlly hear the pure excitement in their voices as they view their photographs for the first time…all the while knowing that my work will be treasured by generations to come. Am I lucky, or what?
I am still in the process of posting weddings from last year and hope to finish before the next season begins. One couple I worked with last year - Michelle and Daniel (DJ) - chose Moon Mountain Retreat for their wedding. This mountain-top resort offers some of the most spectacular views of the Sonoma Valley that I have ever seen. Michelle and Daniel turned out to be two of the nicest people with whom I have had the pleasure of working. There was a gentleness between them and an interaction so beautiful; I wanted to capture this connection with my camera. This is what wedding photography is all about after all!
- Yes, that's me, kneeling down and capturing close-ups of Michelle & Daniel while Gregory captures the setting...one of many ways that having two photographers is so beneficial.
